Margo Lydon is the Director and Chief Mental Health Advisor of Workplace Mental Health Advisory, a non-executive Board Director, Strategic Alliance Facilitator, Consultant, Thought Leader & Keynote Speaker.
With an executive career spanning over two decades in mental health, tertiary qualifications in business and a post-graduate in positive organisation development and change, Margo thrives on bringing positive energy to influence real-world reform in workplace mental health and wellbeing.
Margo draws on unique expertise and knowledge, vast networks, exceptional stakeholder management and positive-change facilitation know-how, to lead diverse stakeholders to collaborate and achieve shared goals that benefit business, industry, people, and communities.
Her collaborative style of consulting, facilitation and leadership engenders strengths-based approaches that balance the ‘head and heart’ in creating sustainable change. This has seen Margo working with private, not for profit and/or government agencies to advise and co-create positive change agendas that lead to increased social and economic value.
Drawing from Harvard Business School’s ‘Shared Value’ business strategy (solving social issues, profitably), Margo uses these principles to partner with organisations and industries who are driven to create both economic and social value, by making a real difference to their people and the community, through positive change.
Margo's passion for providing evidence-informed, practical, and strategic advice on creating thriving, sustainable and productive workplaces, has fuelled her growing curiosity about the intersect of two ‘complex constructs’ – productivity and wellbeing. Margo is driven to continue exploring the evidence and practices that provides organisations with a strategic, yet practical framework to implement and measure both.
CEO for SuperFriend for 12 years, Margo successfully led the growth from start-up to a national organisation at the forefront of workplace mental health and wellbeing in Australia. Margo is the Independent Chair of the National Mental Health Commission’s Mentally Healthy Workplace Alliance – an Alliance of national organisations from the business, union, community, and government sectors leading change to promote and create mentally healthy workplaces. Margo is also a Board Director for Shared Value Project Australia, a Sector Advisor for Roses in the Ocean and is an active participant on a number of other national industry alliances. These roles enable Margo to influence reform in policy and practice, and deliver measurable behaviour change initiatives across a diverse range of industries and organisations - including superannuation and insurance, where staff are often interacting with customers experiencing complex and challenging mental health-related issues. She also have extensive experience in successfully working within complex and competitive stakeholder environments, identifying new strategic and systems-change opportunities, and converting these into positive results.
